We're hitting all of the major tourist spots when we go to London (and quite a few other places as well). We also found a few "off the beaten path" things to do, and I'm really excited about them!

Most tours don't allow you past the chains that you can see in the lower right-hand corner, but the private tour allows us to walk right up and among the stones. That is going to be very cool I think.
We're also going to see the Ceremony of the Keys here:
The Ceremony of the Keys is the traditional locking up of the Tower of London and has taken place on each and every night, without fail, for at least 700 years. The importance of securing this fortress for the night is still very relevant because, although the Monarch no longer resides at this royal palace, the Crown Jewels and many other valuables still do!

I always enjoy the Tower and the British National Museum is phenomenal. Will you take in a show? The theater there is so so so gooooood.

ReplyDeleteTake your time through Westminster; it's an incredible place! Also if you are out by Stonehenge, see some of the other cities like Salisbury and Stratford-upon-Avon, and.....dang the place where Beatrix Potter (no relation to Harry but the lady who wrote all the Peter Rabbit stories) lived. The name escapes me.... Canterbury is pretty awesome too, as are any of the old churches. Just soak up the history of it all. The United States cannot be beat for its beautiful country, but England has all the history, where the stone steps are worn from all the many feet that have gone before you. See some of the country side. Watch out for the sheep by Stonehenge. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteP.S. If you are a Mary Poppins fan, you MUST feed the birds at St. Paul's Cathedral, and the gardens near Kennsington Palace are beautiful.
